Getting Started with Volunteering

Do you love animals and want to make a difference in their lives? The Helotes Humane Society is always in need of volunteers in various areas. There is sure to be something for everyone! Please Note: In order to participate as a volunteer, The Helotes Humane Society requires all of our volunteers to attend a Volunteer Orientation. Orientations are held once a month on the 3rd Saturday of the month at our offices at 10675 Shaenfield Rd. at 10:00 a.m. Please check our event calendar for exact information. Volunteer Opportunities

Foster Parents
We are a home based shelter. We are always in need of loving, temporary homes for cats and dogs. Supplies provided. Learn More >>
Special Events
Help out at adoption events, clinics, offsite booths and fundraisers.
Thrift Shop
We are in need of volunteers to staff our Second Chances Thrift Shop as well as sort and price items.
We need help planning and executing fundraising events as well as soliciting donations.
Handy? We can always use help at the dog park and around the facility.
Community Service Hours
Yes! We accept volunteers in need of community service hours.
Children Volunteers
The minimum age to volunteer is 16. Kids under the age of 16 can help out by collecting donations at their school, sports team, scouting, troop, church or birthday party. View our wishlist! They can also help by decorating “pet rocks” to help us raise donations at Cornyval.
